Head Coach

Coaching Experience: 36 years

Years at Olathe North: 28 years

College Playing Experience: Emporia State This season will be Coach McCartney's 28th as a football coach at Olathe North. He was fortunate to be hired on Olathe North's football staff when Coach Gene Weir gave him an opportunity in 1996. Coach has had the opportunity to be a part on several championship teams and build countless relationships with the players and people of the Olathe North community over those years. After serving as an assistant coach under 5 head coaches in his first 18 years at North, Coach McCartney took the next step and became the head coach. This will be his10th season as head coach of the Fighting Eagles football program. 

 Coach McCartney and his wife Julie have been happily married for 32 years. They have a daughter Morgan and son-in-law Nicholas Ippolito of Lenexa and son Connor who resides in Overland Park, KS.. 

Offensive Line Coach

Coaching Experience: 19 years

Years at Olathe North: 17 years

College Playing Experience:  Wrestled at Appalachian State University 2002-2007 

Josh Carroll graduated from Olathe North in 2002 where he competed in Football, Wrestling and Baseball. After high school he attend Appalachian State University on a wrestling scholarship where he was a Division I National Qualifier. After College he returned home to coach and teach at Olathe North in 2007-2009. In Fall of 2009 he took a college coaching job at Pratt Community College. He had the opportunity to become the Head Wrestling Coach at Olathe North in 2011and has been back ever since. He currently teaches Physical Education at Olathe North. 

Married to Marissa Carroll 8 years also a Olathe North Graduate 2008 who played Softball for the University of Kansas. We have 3 children together Xavier Carroll known as X, Jade Carroll and Skye Carroll

Running Backs Coach

Coaching Experience: 14 years

Years at Olathe North: 14 years

College Playing Experience: Southwest Missouri State University, now called Missouri State University

Coach Richardson is the varsity Running Backs coach at ON. A 1988 graduate of Olathe North High School who played under Gene Weir where he garnered several awards including TOP 11. He went on to play football at Southwest Missouri State University (Missouri State University) where he played both fullback and Linebacker. He also met the love of his life Tina Richardson at SMSU. Together they have 2 young adults (Vivian, Sean II) who also graduated from ON and are currently working on three degrees at K-State, and KU. He also is a Deacon at Second Baptist Church of Olathe. Faith, Family, Football is his moto.

Defensive Line Coach

Coaching Experience: 18 years

Years at Olathe North: 10 years

Coach Pride graduated from Manhattan High School where he played football and baseball. Then he attended Coffeyville Community College where he played baseball. Coach Pride graduated from K-State where he studied education. In his spare time he likes to be outdoors, canoeing, playing golf, or just relaxing in the shade. Coach is married and has two sons.  

Coach Pride is also an assistant coach on the wrestling team. 

Defensive Line Assistant Coach

Coaching Experience: 10 years

Years at Olathe North: 6 years

 Coach Morgan was born and raised in Wichita, KS. Morgan attended Bishop Carroll High School where he played football and wrestled. In 2017, he graduated from KU with a degree in Biology. Morgan began his coaching and teaching career at Tonganoxie High School where he coached DLine and TEs, and taught life science classes for 4 years. 

Offensive Coordinator & Quarterback Coach

Coaching Experience: 9 years

Years at Olathe North:  3 years 

Coach Blaze is an Olathe North alum and the Eagles Quarterback in 2008 & 09. He coached at Wichita NW while he student taught in 2015. He also coached our freshman team in 2016, while he was a substitute teacher. Receiving a full-time teaching position, he moved to Bonner Springs for 5 years where he became their head football coach. In 2022 he was the defensive coordinator at Lawrence Free State High School. This will be his 2nd year in this role at Olathe North.  He also teaches Weights and PE at Olathe North.

Receivers and Defensive Backs Coach

Coaching Experience: 7 years

Years at Olathe North:  2 years

College Playing Experience: MidAmerica Nazarene University

Coach Mickens is coming to Olathe North from Blue Valley North where he was the defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator for the last 4 years. He currently works for the City of Olathe in charge of youth recreational sports. He has been married to Thalia Mickens for 12 years, and is a father of 4. Malik Baynham-Brown 26, Maze Baynham-Mickens 21, Alani Mickens 6, and Niylah Mickens 3.

Receivers Coach

Coaching Experience:  1 year

Years at Olathe North:  1 year

College Playing Experience/Bio: 

Coach Joshua Pettit is a former Division 1/NAIA walk-on playing wide receiver and running back, and winning one conference championship throughout his 4yrs of college. He attended Texas Wesleyan University (2018), University of Texas at San Antonio(2019-2021) and Avila University (2022-2024). Coach Pettit just graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts this past May (2024).
